Why can’t I see my disk while trying to install Windows 11?

I'm attempting to install Windows 11 on my computer for the first time, but I'm only seeing my bootable USB drive when I try to select a location for the installation. I've watched several YouTube tutorials but can't find the disk they show. I'm getting an error message that says 'setup does not support configuration of or installation to disks connected through a USB or IEEE 1394 port.' I really want to figure this out tonight, so any help would be appreciated!

Can you share a bit more about your setup? Did you build your PC yourself or is it prebuilt? Also, it would be helpful to know your specs—especially the CPU, motherboard, and SSD model. That way, we can figure out what’s going on!

I appreciate the response! I’m not really tech-savvy, but I’ll try to gather that info for you.

Don’t stress if you're not sure about the specs! Just take a picture of what you can and share that here. We’ll help you sort it out.

It sounds like you might be missing some drivers for your motherboard's chipset in your installation media. You may need to slipstream those drivers into your Windows 11 installation image. If you're not sure how to do this, I could help guide you through it! Just let me know.
