I'm having trouble transferring files from my laptop to my external SSD. Whenever I try, I get the error message "Windows Explorer has stopped working." Interestingly, I tried using a different SSD, and it worked just fine. Does anyone know what might be causing this issue and how to fix it?

Honestly, it sounds like your SSD might be failing and has switched to a read-only mode to protect your files. This mode can really confuse Windows, leading to those errors you're seeing. Is this a new SSD or an older one? Was it originally external or did you put it into an enclosure?
First off, is your SSD internal or external? If it's external, we can narrow things down from there. Also, does the SSD show up in File Explorer? Check its format and if it has other files on it.
If it's not showing files, you might want to try reformatting the SSD if there’s nothing important on it.
Another approach would be to create a bootable USB with a live OS like Ubuntu or Hiren's Boot CD. Boot from that and see if you can access your files on the SSD. If it works, then the problem might be with your Windows installation. If it doesn't work, there might be an issue with the drive itself, and you could try cleaning the partitions using diskpart if you're okay with starting fresh.
It's an external SSD. I can see it in File Explorer, but when I try to send a file, it doesn’t show up properly and I get that Windows error again.
