Why can’t I transfer files to my USB drive?

I'm having a frustrating issue with my USB drive. I know it has enough space available, but I'm unable to move or download any files to it. I've already restarted my PC and even formatted the drive, but nothing seems to help. I'm not sure what's going on. Any ideas?

Just to clarify, is this a regular USB thumb drive or an external drive connected via USB? If it's the latter, you might want to check its health using a program like Crystal Disk Info.

It's a thumb drive.

Sometimes if you're getting an error while trying to move files, it could mean that the USB drive is failing. When you try to transfer files, what error message do you see on your screen?

When I attempt to download files, it says 'out of storage space,' but it's brand new. I just bought another one, and now it says 'file is too large for the destination file system' when I try to move files.
