Why Can’t My PC Boot After Upgrading to a 2TB SSD?

I recently upgraded my 1TB SSD to a 2TB Gen 4 WD_BLACK SN770 NVMe SSD. However, every time I turn on my PC, it starts up but shows the message: "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot Device and press a key." I've tried various troubleshooting steps I found online, but nothing seems to work. My PC either displays this error or leads me to the BIOS screen.

Did you migrate or clone your data from the old SSD to the new one? When moving an OS, there are usually three partitions involved: an EFI System Partition, the main data partition, and a recovery partition. If you missed any of these, your new drive won’t boot.

Did you perform a clean installation on the new drive, or just plug it in? You might want to reconnect your old drive, create a bootable USB drive, and then install Windows on the new SSD. Make sure to disconnect any other drives during the installation.

Did you check the BIOS settings? Make sure to set your new SSD as the primary boot device. Also, confirm that you have the operating system installed on it. If you just swapped drives without transferring the OS, that’s probably the issue.

It sounds like you might not have the OS installed on the new drive. If your operating system was on the old drive and you didn’t clone it over to the new one before making the swap, that could be causing the boot issue.
