I recently purchased a collection of all the seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer online. The cases indicate they're Blu-ray Discs, but I'm a bit skeptical. Regardless, I was just hoping they would work. However, when I insert the disc into my PS5, the screen flickers between the disc's main menu and a black screen. I also tried using my Samsung external DVD player with my laptop, but it doesn't recognize the disc at all, even though the player is making some usual sounds. Could it be that these discs are in a format that neither of my devices can read, or do you think they might just be faulty and I should return them?

Check to see if the disc itself is labeled as a DVD or a Blu-ray. They are different formats, and sometimes there are region locks that can cause issues. It sounds like your PS5 should handle Blu-rays, but it’s worth investigating the disc format further.
Since the disc is labeled as Blu-ray, your PS5 should technically be able to read it. If it's flickering, it might be an encoding issue or a faulty disc. As for the external DVD player, it's possible it might not support Blu-ray at all.
