Help Me Choose Parts for My First Custom PC Build!

Hey everyone! I'm super excited to build my first PC, but I'm a bit overwhelmed with selecting the right parts. I've already got a few components lined up:

- **GPU**: Gigabyte RTX 4090 24GB
- **SSD**: Samsung 9100 Pro with HeatSink
- **RAM**: 2x32GB DDR4 Samsung M378A4G43AB2-CWE (I'm thinking of upgrading to DDR5 a few months down the line)

Now, I'm trying to choose compatible parts to create a balanced system that can handle my favorite games like CS and support my AI projects.

For the CPU, I'm debating between the Ryzen 7 7800X3D and the Intel i7 14700F, but I'm open to better options within the same price range.

When it comes to the motherboard, I really have no idea where to start. I'm looking for a DDR5 and PCIe 5 compatible board for my SSD, ideally with at least 2 SSD slots and preferably 4 RAM slots.

Lastly, for the PSU, I'm aiming for a 1000W 80 Plus model. I've narrowed it down to the MSI MAG A1000GL and the Entis EG Gold.

I would love to hear your suggestions! Thanks a lot!

You should really pick a CPU first since that determines the motherboard socket you'll need. I'd recommend the Ryzen 7 7800X3D for future-proofing.

Then look for an AM5 socket motherboard, which is good for your setup. Models from Asus like the Aorus or Prime X670-P are great options with everything you need.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'm now favoring the Ryzen 7. Would going with an Asus board like the ROG Crosshair X670 Hero be wise?

For your RAM, just a heads up: there's no way to upgrade from DDR4 to DDR5 on the same motherboard. You need to choose one.

Regarding the CPU, if you're focused on gaming, I'd recommend going with the Ryzen 7 7800X3D; it really outperforms the Intel i7 14700F in gaming. But if you're aiming for productivity, check out the Ryzen 9 7900X or 7950X for additional cores.

As for the motherboard, any B850 option will suit your needs for DDR5 and multiple SSD slots. Just make sure it has enough RAM slots for your future upgrades.

And the MSI MAG A1000GL is a solid choice for the PSU!

Also, be careful with your motherboard choice! If you want lots of M.2 drive options, make sure to pick one that supports that.

I appreciate the tips! I didn't realize about the DDR4/5 issue, so I'll adjust my RAM choice accordingly. I'm leaning towards the Ryzen 9 for a solid balance.
