Why Can’t Users Access Their Personal Microsoft Accounts on Domain Devices?

I've got a situation where several users are unable to access their personal Microsoft accounts on domain devices. They used to be signed into applications like OneNote or To Do to manage their work-related tasks from their personal accounts. Recently, they've been logged out and can't log back in. When they try, they encounter an error code 0x800704ec. We've checked Azure and Group Policy but haven't found anything blocking access. Does anyone have suggestions or solutions for this issue? Thanks!

It sounds like you might have inadvertently activated some security settings that restrict sign-ins for personal accounts. If you didn't mean to, consider re-evaluating those policies and potentially allowing personal sign-ins. It's a tricky balance between security and functionality, but this could be your opportunity to tighten up those controls away from personal use altogether.

Have you looked into the licensing for these users? It's possible they have an active license for their personal accounts, but maybe not at the same level as their work accounts. Since I'm running into the same issue with a fully equipped MS 365 personal account, it might be worth checking if the licensing is the culprit here!

Thanks for the tip! I think they might have personal licenses, but just not as robust as their work ones. I'll check it out and see if that’s the root of the problem!
