I recently upgraded my PC from a 5800X3D to a 9800X3D, and I noticed that my 3D Mark scores actually decreased. I'm curious if anyone has any insights on why this might be happening. Here are the scores:
**New Scores:**
Overall: 19,745
GPU: 24,005
CPU: 9,846
**Old Scores:**
Overall: 20,640
GPU: 24,112
CPU: 11,366
Just as a side note, my specs are as follows:
Old CPU: 5800X3D -> New CPU: 9800X3D
RAM: 16GB DDR4 -> 32GB DDR5
GPU: 4070Ti Super
Any thoughts on what could be causing this drop in score?

Make sure you updated and downloaded the chipset driver for your 9800X3D. Reinstalling your graphics drivers could help too. Also, if your old RAM had an EXPO profile, make sure to enable that for the new RAM as well.
It could be outdated BIOS or even thermal throttling if your cooling isn't up to par. Keep an eye on those temps, though, this chip starts throttling at 95°C!
I've checked, it doesn't go above 72°C at full load.
I recommend downloading HWinfo64 and running it during benchmarks to check for overheating. Also, check that the RAM is properly recognized in the BIOS and at the right speed. Reinstalling drivers might help as well.
Would the graphics drivers even impact CPU scores? My GPU scores seem unchanged.
Check your CPU speeds and see if it's hitting that 5.2GHz boost it's supposed to reach.
Not sure; I'm in the process of updating my BIOS right now, so I can't verify it.
Sounds like you might need to update your BIOS. It could be a factor in your performance drop. It's hard to say for sure without more info, but definitely worth checking!
Anything specific I should look for before diving into a BIOS update? They kinda freak me out.
I upgraded to similar hardware, and my Windows 10 feels smoother too. I haven't benchmarks since, but how's your system feeling? Have you tweaked any settings?
I'm on Windows 11 now and just tested the CPU profile, came in at the bottom 1% unfortunately.
Are you running X3D Turbo Mode? If you are, try turning it off and see if that helps.
I've seen mixed advice on that, some say turn it on while others say off. What's the deal?

The drivers are ready to go, but I haven't reinstalled the graphics drivers yet.
