Why Did My New PC Turn Off and Then On by Itself?

I just finished building my new PC, but it wouldn't turn on at first. However, the next day, it powered up on its own. I'm really confused and a bit anxious about it. What do you think could have caused this? Should I try disconnecting and reconnecting components, or would that risk messing it up again?

You might want to check your front power cable header—the connectors might be faulty. I had a similar issue with my previous PC, and it was just a simple disconnect and reconnect that did the trick!

First off, make sure to turn off your PSU switch, unplug your RAM and GPU, and then check each PSU connector—replug them to ensure they're seated right. Also, take a look at your motherboard manual to verify the front IO headers are in the correct spots. After that, pop your GPU and RAM back in, and watch for any lights on the motherboard. They can give hints about issues!

It sounds like you might have a loose connection somewhere in the build. I'd recommend checking every connection to make sure everything is plugged in properly. Specifically, double-check the standoffs on the motherboard as well!

And don’t forget to check if your monitor was on, that might seem silly but it happens!

Yeah, definitely check those connections! Sometimes even one little thing can cause issues.

There's a chance it was a power supply issue. Can you confirm if your PSU is working fine? Also, check if your voltages are correct—850W should be enough, but you never know!

Yeah, everything is brand new. I was planning on redoing the connections but now that it’s working, maybe I’ll just leave it.

Just stay vigilant! If it happens again, don't hesitate to troubleshoot again.

Honestly, sometimes things like this happen. Maybe it was just a weird power issue or your BIOS doing some initial checks. It might have been a memory test running late—those can take a while. If it’s working now, maybe just keep an eye on it.

Right? Tech can be so unpredictable! It's like it just needs a bit of time to wake up.

Or it's just a ghost messing with your system! Lol, I've had my fair share of spooky tech moments.
