Hey everyone, I'm a newbie at building PCs, and I'm trying to update my graphics drivers for the first time. I'm currently trying to install the Nvidia Game Ready Driver 576.40 - WHQL for my MSI RTX 5070. However, my screen went completely black during the installation. I've checked that my HDMI cables are connected properly and I can't boot into safe mode. Even when I press the power button to turn off the PC, it doesn't respond. I'm considering unplugging my PC from the wall, but I'm worried that might cause damage. By the way, I'm running Windows 11. Any advice would be super helpful!

Be cautious with BIOS or disk changes since they can lead to data loss. Always back up your data before making changes. It's a good idea to check out the FAQ for more help when dealing with driver installations.
I've had a similar issue! If you've recently updated to the 24H2 version of Windows 11, it's known to be pretty buggy. I let my black screen stay for a while, and eventually, the driver finished installing. After doing a hard reboot, everything was back to normal for me. You can also try holding down the Shift key while your computer reboots to access troubleshooting options and potentially boot into safe mode from there. Give it a shot!
I ended up unplugging my PC after about 30-40 seconds of staring at a black screen. When I turned it back on, everything worked fine! It's frustrating how every Nvidia update seems to cause more issues.
