I have an iPhone 16 Pro running iOS 18.5, and I sent a text to my sister-in-law, who has an Android. My message appears only in my individual conversation with her, but my husband told me it actually went to a group chat that includes 14 people, including her. I can't see my message in that group chat at all! I'm really worried about this and hesitant to text anyone else because I don't want to accidentally message the group. Can anyone explain how this happened?

This sounds like a weird glitch! Sometimes, messages can behave oddly when someone switches between iOS and Android. If your sister-in-law ever had an Apple device and used the same number, your message might have gotten mixed up. It's also possible that your iPhone encountered a hiccup when sending the message. Just to be safe, I’d recommend checking your settings or even restarting your phone and testing it with someone else in the group chat!
Make sure your group messaging settings are correct in your iPhone. Sometimes, iMessages can try to merge threads in a weird way. Check if your husband has his notifications set to group messages since that might also affect what you see. If this keeps happening, you might consider reaching out to Apple support for help!
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll definitely check my settings and see if anything looks off.
That makes sense! I had a similar issue before when one of my contacts switched devices. It can be a real headache.
