Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a bind with WhatsApp. I recently got a new number registered under my mom's ID. All my friends' contacts are saved on my dad's phone, so I started messaging them directly from there. To kick things off, I jokingly texted someone, "mister, you're under arrest," and ended up with a 6-hour ban. After messaging a few family members without a hitch, I thought I was in the clear. But then, I sent a simple "hello" to another friend, and suddenly I got a 12-hour ban. It's really frustrating, especially since I'm in a situation where I can't explain this to my mom without getting in trouble!
It's been a strange few weeks of careful messaging, but I tried again and texted another friend with a simple greeting, only for my account to be banned entirely. I've reached out to WhatsApp to appeal the ban, but I have no idea if that will work. Has anyone been through something like this? I'd really appreciate any help or advice you can offer. Please, no memes or jokes—this is serious for me!

It sounds like you might have caught the attention of the moderation system for messaging too many new contacts in a short period. WhatsApp can be pretty sensitive about this, especially with new numbers. Maybe try to communicate slowly and limit how often you message new people to avoid triggering more bans. Sadly, there isn't much we can do; it's all automated on their end.
Honestly, it might help to switch numbers if you keep getting banned. I know it feels like a hassle, but sometimes starting fresh is the easiest route. Just be cautious with how you use it initially. Sorry you’re dealing with this!
Switching numbers would be tough since you've set everything up with this one. But I agree, if this keeps happening, it might be worth considering.
I feel for you; this whole situation is pretty wild. Unfortunately, there’s not much you can do beyond what you’re already doing. Just keep appealing and hope they’ll reconsider. It’s frustrating for sure, but you aren't alone in this—it’s a pretty common issue with WhatsApp users.
Yes! I just wish they had better support for situations like this. I mean, banning someone for just a funny message seems excessive, right?

Yeah, that makes sense. I've heard a lot about people getting banned for unusual activity like that. It’s frustrating when you're not actually doing anything wrong!
