Why Do Game Shortcuts on My Desktop Ask for Admin Permission When Renaming?

I've been noticing a strange issue with some game shortcut icons on my desktop. These games are installed on drives other than my C: drive, and recently when I try to rename their shortcuts, I'm getting a permission dialog asking for admin approval. This didn't happen before, and it's only for these game shortcuts—other app shortcuts don't have this issue. Anyone know why this is happening and how I can stop these annoying permission requests?

I totally get where you're coming from! Those permission prompts can be super annoying. It's really about where the shortcuts are stored. If they were created in a shared space, you might need those extra permissions. Try moving the shortcuts to a folder that doesn't require admin rights and see if that helps!

This is likely because the shortcuts are located on the 'All Users' desktop, which requires admin permissions for changes. When shortcuts are created in this location, it can trigger that permission request. To fix this, you could create your game shortcuts in your personal desktop folder instead. That way, you won't run into this issue when renaming them.
