Hey everyone! I'm trying to switch from Windows to Linux because I'm tired of the sluggish performance, but I've hit a wall. I've tested a few distros like Debian, Linux Mint XFCE 22, LMDE 6, and even Puppy Linux, and they all freeze after a short time of use. With Linux Mint XFCE 22, it won't even install—it freezes after about 10 minutes! Debian and LMDE 6 manage to last around 30 minutes before crashing. My specs are decent: I'm running an i5-2400 CPU, an Nvidia GT 240 GPU, 12GB of RAM, and a GoldenTec H61 M2 motherboard. Windows 10 works fine for me; I can play games and do heavy tasks without issues, so I don't think it's a hardware limitation. Also, I haven't tried these distros in a virtual machine yet. Any suggestions on why this is happening?

First off, are you booting from a USB drive or a CD? You might want to check if power-saving settings are causing the freezes, or it could be a heat issue if there's a faulty component that fails after running for a bit. Just some thoughts to consider!
I feel you—I've had similar freezing issues, so I'm following this thread for advice too!
Yeah, I'm booting from USB.
