I'm really frustrated with this issue. I've been making changes to the Default Domain policy, but after a few days to a week, those changes just revert back to the original settings. The logs only show that 'SYSTEM' is making these changes. I've ruled out Silverfort and other third-party software as the culprit, and it's likely not related to Azure either. Has anyone experienced this or have any theories on what could be causing it? I'm open to any wild and speculative ideas, as I'm stuck here!

This sounds like it could be a replication issue. Double-check your replication setup—there are some guides out there that could help you diagnose if that's the case. Also, do you have any automated backup processes running on your domain controllers or in the SYSVOL share?
Have you checked the local security policies on your domain controllers? Sometimes those can reset the default settings when applied.
You might be modifying the default policy directly instead of creating a copy. It’s generally advised to keep the default policy standard for emergencies. Try creating a separate policy for your changes. If 'SYSTEM' is the one reverting your changes, that suggests AD is reverting them automatically. Also, check your inheritance stack for other GPOs that might be overriding your settings.
