Hey everyone, I'm hoping you can help me out. I got an old Google Pixel 6A from a friend last year, and after resetting it to factory settings, it's been mostly fine. But I'm facing a frustrating issue with the Google Play Store (GPS) not letting me download dating apps like Hinge. The message I keep seeing says 'Parental controls restrict downloading of this app.' Here's the kicker: when I check the parental controls settings, it shows that they're actually set to 'off,' yet when I click into the parental controls, it indicates that they are 'on' with limits set to PEGI 16, 15, and 15 for apps and games, movies, and TV. I've tried turning them off by entering my PIN twice, but I still can't set those categories higher, and the controls flip back to 'on' as soon as I leave the settings page. I've already cleared the cache and memory of GPS, confirmed my age is well over 18 in my Google Account, and there's no Family Link connection. Device Admin Apps only has a few options like 'Find my Device.' I'm stuck and would really appreciate any insights or solutions you might have!

You could also try downloading Hinge from APKpure as an alternative. That might bypass the restrictions you're facing with the Play Store.
Well, if all else fails, at least the new iPhone is coming out soon!
Are you a parent in your Google family? Sometimes the parental controls can act up if you're part of a family group where restrictions are in place.
No, I made the Google account just for this phone, and when I checked, it only offered to start creating a family group. So I guess I'm not part of any family group.
If all else fails, a factory reset worked for me when I had similar issues. Just remember to back up your important files before doing it!
Have you reached out to the official Pixel support team? They might have some specific solutions. I spent a while with them, but they couldn't fix my issue in the end.
I just did that and ended up spending about forty minutes on the line with them, but they couldn't help me either.
Oh come on, not the iPhone debate! Just because I have a minor software issue doesn’t mean I need to spend a fortune on a next-gen phone!
