Why do my internet speeds drop until I reconnect my Ethernet cable?

I've been experiencing a frustrating issue where my internet speeds drop significantly, often accompanied by DNS problems that cause some websites to be completely inaccessible. The only temporary fix I've found is to unplug and then replug the Ethernet cable at either my switch or my computer. I've also tried USB tethering from my phone, but the internet speed through Wi-Fi is just not good enough. I've attempted to troubleshoot using the network adapter tool and checked the drivers, but I'm still at a loss. It's worth mentioning that my motherboard is an ASRock A520M-HVS and that there are other computers connected to the same switch, but only mine is having this issue. Any ideas on how to pinpoint the cause or solve this problem?

Have you thought about trying a new Ethernet cable? Sometimes, a tiny issue within the cable can lead to problems like this. It could just be a connection that's messing with your speeds.

Thanks for the suggestion! Though I’m curious—wouldn't a bad cable just cause constant issues instead of getting better for a bit after I reconnect it?
