Hey everyone! I've come across a bit of a puzzler. My girlfriend just bought some new USB thumb drives, but they won't work on my PC—they appear greyed out. I can't format them or run chkdsk because they show as RAW, whatever that means. The strange part is that these drives work fine on her laptop, and my older USB devices function perfectly on my PC. I'm a bit worried there might be something wrong with my PC. Any thoughts on what might be causing this? Thanks!

What operating system is your PC using? It seems like it might not recognize the partition table on those USB drives, which usually happens with certain formats or compatibility issues.
It sounds like those drives might be counterfeit. There are tons of fake USB drives out there that can act weirdly. Since they work fine on your laptop, it's worth checking if they show the same behavior on other devices too.
I agree, that’s a possibility. If they’re fake, that could explain the issues you're having.
I’m running Windows 11 Home, version 24H2.
