Why do .tmp files keep appearing on my Desktop after downloads?

I've recently reinstalled Windows 10 on my Alien A51m from the Dell website, and now I'm facing an annoying issue. Whenever I download files directly to my Desktop, like images, a .tmp file also shows up alongside them. This never happened before the reinstall, and it's driving me nuts! When I try to delete the .tmp files, I get an 'Item Not Found' error. The only way I can get rid of them is by refreshing my Desktop. How can I resolve this and stop these .tmp files from cluttering my Desktop? Thanks!

It sounds like what you're experiencing is pretty normal behavior for browsers like Chrome. When you download a file, it often starts as a .tmp file while it completes, and then it should rename itself to the actual file name once the download is fully done. You're probably noticing these files more now because they’re on your Desktop, which doesn't refresh as quickly as other folders. Try using a dedicated Downloads folder to keep things organized—you might not even see the .tmp files there unless you check while they’re still downloading!

What’s considered a fast enough refresh? I heard those tmp files should delete automatically, but mine were still there days later. I always saved files to my Desktop before and didn't have this issue until after the reinstall.
