I've got this strange issue where a device called 'Linux File-Stor Gadget' keeps showing up in my device manager and task manager, even though I've uninstalled it multiple times. I've checked my PC thoroughly and there's nothing physically plugged in. This device shows a reading and writing speed of zero and doesn't seem to be doing anything at all. I'm concerned it could be a virus, but to be clear, I've never used Linux on this computer at any point in time. It only recently started appearing, and I have no idea what's going on!

If you're really worried about malware, it might be a good idea to run a full scan on your system. Sometimes, these phantom devices can indicate deeper problems. There are plenty of malware removal guides online that can help you out with steps to take.

It sounds like that device might be a phantom USB entry. Try going into your device manager and expanding the USB section. Start unplugging all USB devices one by one to see if that 'Linux File-Stor Gadget' disappears. If it doesn’t go away, it's possible you might have malware on your hands.

It showed up after I installed a new SSD (Samsung) and a sound card (SoundblasterX). I’ll try unplugging those and see what happens!

If it is linked to new updates from your devices, that might explain it. I'd keep an eye on it, just in case!
