I recently formatted my PC about two months ago. After that, I logged into Gmail, spent some time on YouTube, and then went away for a trip without logging out. When I returned and turned on my PC, my browser reopened the last pages, but Gmail asked me to re-enter my password, and I found that I was also logged out of YouTube. Since no one else uses my PC and no one was home during those two months, I'm wondering if Gmail automatically logs you out after a long period of inactivity. Is this a common thing?

It’s pretty normal to have to re-enter passwords for Google accounts after a while of not accessing them.
There's no official or known set time for Gmail logouts, but cookies typically expire after a while. Were you just curious about this happening?
It can depend on your account type. For instance, my work Gmail requires me to log in again after about two weeks of inactivity. Also, if your browser updated while you were away, that could trigger a logout too.
Nah, it's not just you! It happens to others too. Sometimes long inactivity does lead to a logout.

Yeah, I’m just wondering how I got logged out automatically with no one using my PC. It feels a bit strange!
