Why does my BIOS version seem outdated and should I update it?

I recently built a PC using the MSI B850 Gaming Plus Wifi 6e motherboard with a 9600X processor, and everything's running smoothly. However, I've noticed that my BIOS version reads "E7E80AMSI.1A10" and I can't find any information on this version. It seems to be from June 2, 2025, but the earliest version I can find on MSI's website dates from June 16, just two weeks after. I've never updated a BIOS before, and I've heard so many horror stories about it going wrong. My question is: Why does my BIOS version seem so different, and is it safe to keep using it for a few more months?

I found something on MSI's support page that matches your BIOS version. It's labeled as 7E80v1A1, which is actually the first publicly released BIOS. The date differences aren't unusual since they often flash early versions onto boards before uploading them to their website officially. You shouldn’t worry too much about it.

Yeah, that makes sense, especially with the similar names.

It sounds like the version you have is just an early manufacturer version that was pre-installed during production but never released publicly. I do recommend updating your BIOS when you can, as these updates often contain important security and performance improvements. But if everything is working fine for you right now, it’s not an immediate issue.
