Why Does My Computer Keep Restarting After I Shut It Down?

Hi everyone, I've been having a weird issue with my computer. I turned it on yesterday, and when I tried to shut it down later, it just started up again on its own! This has been happening repeatedly. I've been unplugging it just to turn it off, but I'd really like to find a way to get it to shut down properly. I'm running Windows 10, and aside from this problem, everything else seems to be working fine. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Honestly, it's about time to think about updating your PC. Windows 10 is getting a bit outdated, and usually, something goes wrong when there's a human error involved. What were you doing before this boot looping started happening?

I just checked for updates. There wasn’t any update available, and I didn’t change anything unusual.

It could also be that your computer isn't really shutting down but instead going to a sleep mode. You can check the power settings to see if that's the case. A quick Google search should help you find the right steps to make sure it fully shuts down instead.

I had a similar issue after updating my Nvidia drivers—the computer wouldn't turn off properly until I rolled back to an older version. It might be worth checking if any recent updates have affected your shutdown process.

You might want to check your BIOS settings. You can access it by holding down the DEL key while booting up. Look for a power or ACPI setting that might say something about 'recover after power outage' and set it to do nothing. Just keep in mind that BIOS interfaces can differ, so the option might not be the same on all systems.

Thanks, I will try this!
