I recently dug up my 4-year-old laptop, but I'm facing a strange issue. It keeps turning on and off by itself. When I press 'Alt+F4', it surprisingly takes me to the login screen. However, as soon as I let go of the 'Alt' key, the screen flickers and the computer starts a loop of shutting down and turning back on. Has anyone experienced this before?

It's possible that holding down the 'Alt' key is just making some internal hardware connection work better. You might want to try pressing around that area on the keyboard, like the keys next to 'Alt'. I’ve heard that sometimes this can make a difference.
Are you seeing the boot sequence at all? Like, does it get to the logo screen? If it only shows the computer logo before shutting down, that’s still a problem. Pressing 'Alt' might just be preventing the shutdown loop temporarily. You're also updating your laptop now? Make sure you keep holding that 'Alt' key!
It sounds like there might be an issue with your keyboard, especially if it's sending a constant signal that causes your PC to turn off. Try plugging in a different keyboard or booting without the keyboard connected altogether. This could help you figure out if the problem is hardware-related.
