Why Does My Copied Text Sometimes Paste as a Random String?

I've been having a really odd issue on my Windows 10 PC where whenever I copy something, it sometimes pastes as a strange string of letters and numbers instead of the actual text. For example, I copied a link from opensubtitles.org, but when I paste it, it comes out as '8V4ZdgUBxTiqCyxbEqPraWb1fJGT1XbbtWt7c8fvoXKi', which honestly looks like a crypto wallet address or something! This doesn't happen all the time, which makes it even weirder. I also tried adjusting some clipboard settings but they seem to reset after a restart. By the way, I checked for malware with Windows Defender and Malwarebytes, and everything looks fine. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

I had a similar problem before! I found that certain settings in the registry can affect clipboard behavior. You might want to check the Clipboard settings in your registry again to ensure everything is set up correctly. Also, switching to a different clipboard manager (if you're using one) might help, or just try using the default Windows clipboard for a while.

Sounds frustrating! When you copied the link, did you ensure it was fully selected? Sometimes, if you're copying text from certain applications, hidden characters or formatting can mess up the clipboard output. Try copying plain text from a simple text editor like Notepad and see if that behaves differently when you paste it.

It sounds like a clipboard issue, and since you've already checked for malware, here are a few things to try: First, make sure your Windows and drivers are fully updated. Also, try clearing your clipboard history and disabling clipboard history for a bit to see if that helps. Sometimes, having third-party clipboard tools can interfere too, so if you're using any, consider disabling them temporarily to see if it resolves the problem!
