Why Does My Dell Laptop Keep Asking for a Bitlocker Key?

Hey everyone! I'm running into a frustrating issue with some Dell laptops at work. Whenever users shut down their laptops right before leaving for the day, the next time they turn them on, they get hit with a request for the Bitlocker key. The quickest solution I've found that works about half the time is to unplug everything connected to the laptop and restart it. However, there are instances where it still prompts for the Bitlocker key, which means I have to enter the ID from Intune to get it going again. I initially thought this was due to Secure Boot being disabled in the BIOS settings, since I noticed that on the first few laptops, but now it's happening across various models—even ones with default Dell settings. This is affecting both older and newer laptops alike. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, did you figure out what's causing it?

One trick that works for me is just holding down the power button for about 30 seconds. Sounds simple, but it's helped a lot with these kinds of issues.

I’ve tried a few workarounds too, including suggestions from the Dell Community, but nothing seemed to stick. It's really frustrating!

Yeah, I feel your pain. I’ve had little success with those fixes too.

Are you dealing with a BitLocker startup PIN or just the recovery key? Also, are you pushing any BIOS updates to these machines? That's something to keep an eye on.
