Why does my external HDD keep erasing its volume?

Hey everyone, I have a bit of an issue with my external HDD. It's a Seagate model with a SATA to USB cable, and I think it's USB 2.0. Initially, it worked fine after I formatted it, but after about two restarts, the volume keeps erasing itself completely. My OS is Windows 10 LTSC 2021, and the HDD model is Seagate Data Momentus 5400.5 with 160GB of space. The cable I'm using is a really cheap generic one. Any advice on what might be going wrong? Thanks, and sorry for my English!

First off, you should definitely try switching to a different cable. Those generic cables can be really unreliable and might be the cause of your problem. A good quality cable can make a big difference!

You might be right! If there's a chance the generic one is causing issues, it’s worth checking out a better option. Plus, I get that good cables can be hard to find in some places.
