I recently got an Asus ROG Strix Scar 16 with an RTX 5090, and I'm running into issues while playing Rust with voice chat. My game starts lagging whenever I use the microphone. I found that changing the mic in Windows settings temporarily stops the lag, but it returns as soon as I close the settings. I've tried around 20 different solutions with no luck. Has anyone experienced this or know how to fix it?

It's strange that a mic would cause game lag unless you're using another recording software at the same time. Are you just using it for chatting in-game? That shouldn't really affect performance.
I came across a similar issue where audio drivers needed proper tuning. Are you using the generic Microsoft drivers or those specifically for your laptop? The ASUS auto-installer may help with that!
Is your mic external or wireless? Bluetooth mics can sometimes create latency issues. If it's wired, that shouldn’t be a problem. You might want to double-check your audio settings.
