Why does my laptop shut down when unplugged?

I've got a laptop that's about a year and a half old, and lately it's been shutting down suddenly when I unplug it from the mains. I've tried checking the battery status in the settings and made sure all updates are installed, but nothing seems to work. I'm thinking about resetting it, but I wanted to get some advice before I do that. By the way, I do have another laptop I can use if needed.

I'm a bit confused here. You are definitely talking about a laptop, right?

This is a typical issue with laptops. It sounds like it might be a battery problem if it shuts down when unplugged. Have you tried checking the battery health or settings? Sometimes a reset can help, but I'd suggest exploring battery replacement options if it's under warranty.

Just to confirm, you're dealing with a laptop, right? What brand is it? HP, Dell, Lenovo, or something else?

It's an Asus laptop.
