Why does my laptop’s CPU and memory spike during simple tasks?

Hey folks,

I've been dealing with a frustrating issue on my laptop. Every time I do something as simple as opening a web browser or clicking on links, I see a big spike in my CPU and memory usage. This happens consistently, and I'm worried it might be impacting my laptop's performance.

My main question is: why do these spikes occur? Is this something that typically happens with laptops, or could there be an underlying problem with my system? Ideally, I'd love to keep resource use below 70% to avoid any lag. I've included my laptop specs below in case that helps. Any advice on how to achieve smoother performance would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for your help!

It sounds like your laptop might just be quite old. Spikes in resource usage can happen, especially if you’re running multiple programs or if your hardware isn’t up to today’s demands. Just remember, when you open a browser or any app, your system is designed to utilize its resources to get those tasks done quickly, so seeing high usage isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It's just how it works!
