Why Does My Lenovo Thinkpad Take So Long to Wake Up with Fedora 42 and KDE?

Hey everyone! I'm new to Linux and recently installed Fedora as my first distro on a Lenovo Thinkpad L13. I've noticed that it takes quite a while for my laptop to wake up from sleep mode. I checked the logs and it shows that resuming devices takes over 10 seconds. I'm wondering if switching to Gnome might help this issue and how difficult it would be to set up the GUI if I do switch. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Just out of curiosity, did you choose KDE Plasma intentionally or did it come pre-installed with Fedora? Sometimes the default environment can influence performance. It's interesting that you mentioned testing Gnome, and having the same issue, though—definitely something to keep in mind when troubleshooting. If KDE is what you liked initially, it might be worth exploring some settings to optimize it before switching.

Hey there! It sounds like some users have experienced similar long wake-up times with KDE on Fedora, particularly with AMD hardware. Switching to Gnome might make a difference as it can sometimes handle power management more efficiently. If you decide to switch, it's fairly straightforward—just install Gnome via the terminal and you can select it at the login screen. Good luck and let us know how it goes!
