Why does my MacBook Air display shut off when opened past 90 degrees?

Hey everyone! I've got a two-year-old M1 MacBook Air that's been acting up today. Whenever I open it more than 90 degrees, the display turns completely off, but the laptop stays on—so audio and video keep playing normally. I noticed that before it cuts out, the brightness decreases a bit each time I open the screen further until it goes black at 90 degrees. Has anyone dealt with this issue before? Any suggestions would be awesome! Thanks a bunch!

It sounds like you might have a loose display cable. When you tilt the screen, it could be pulling on the cable and causing the display to shut off. If you're comfortable with it, you could try to take the Mac apart to check, but if not, taking it to a repair shop is a good idea.

Yeah, that makes sense! I wouldn't want to mess with it either, so I'll just take it to a repair shop. Do you know if fixing that is pricey?
