Why does my new PC only recognize my 4K monitor as 1080p?

I'm having trouble with my newly built PC setup. I have a killer rig with a 5090 GPU and AMD 9950X3D, and I'm trying to use my Asus ROG PG32UCDP 4K OLED gaming monitor that worked perfectly at 4K on my previous Dell Alienware setup. But now, Windows 11 is only showing it as a 1080p display, and I can't find any resolution options beyond that. I first connected via HDMI 2.1, but switched to DisplayPort 2.1 after doing some research—still no luck! I've managed to change the refresh rate to 240Hz, which the monitor can handle, but it remains at this low resolution. I've tried all the latest Nvidia drivers and installed the monitor's OEM driver instead of the generic one. I plan to test a different monitor next, but does anyone have suggestions on how to fix this issue?

It sounds like your monitor might be set to the wrong mode. Check the monitor's on-screen menu to see if it has a 'dual mode' option that allows switching between 4K at 240Hz and 1080p at 480Hz. You might have inadvertently switched it to a setting that only outputs in 1080p. If it’s something simple like that, it could be an easy fix!

I haven't checked that actually! I didn’t even think about it before with my Alienware. I’ll give it a shot when I get home!
