Why Does My PC Keep Rebooting Under Load?

I've been experiencing some frustrating issues with my PC. While gaming, both of my monitors suddenly stopped displaying anything, but the keyboard and RGB lights stayed on. After waiting around 10-15 seconds, the PC restarted itself. This happens randomly, either right after I boot up or during more intensive tasks like gaming or installing files. I've already reinstalled Windows fresh, but I haven't been able to update my video drivers due to these crashes. My hunch is that the power supply unit (PSU) might be the problem, but I'd love to hear other opinions. I checked the error logs with WinDbg and saw "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA(50)." I've ensured both RAM sticks are seated properly, I'm not using XMP or EXPO for memory, and tests show that the memory is fine.

It sounds like a classic symptom of PSU issues! The fact that your monitors cut out while peripherals stay on and then it hard reboots definitely points toward a power supply problem. The PAGE_FAULT code could just be a byproduct of the instability, which may lead to various stop codes. Before replacing the PSU, try checking the voltage on the 12V and 5V rails using HWiNFO64 when your PC is under load. If you notice any fluctuations, that's a strong indicator. Also, double-check those GPU power connectors and make sure there are no bent pins or loose cables. If you can, swapping in a known-good PSU of similar wattage for testing would be valuable, too. By the way, how old is your PSU and what model do you have? Some brands can fail around the 3-5 year mark!

Gotcha! My PSU is the Corsair RM850X, and I've had it for just over two years now. I can't test with another one as my older PSU is lower wattage, but it did work before I upgraded. Just to add, the last time my PC rebooted, it happened while I was just tabbing through Steam, not under heavy load or anything.
