Why Does My PC Keep Shutting Off While Playing a New Skate Game?

Hey everyone, so I've been super excited to try out the early access for the new skate game that just launched. I got to play for about 10 minutes before my PC unexpectedly shut down. I checked BlueScreenView and the Event Viewer, but there were no crash dumps or any notable errors—just the sudden power off.

At first, I thought it might be a one-time glitch, but I found that my PC consistently turns off around 10–15 minutes into playing this game. I'm puzzled because my temperatures seem normal, even lower than what I'd see in other more demanding games, and this issue only happens with skate—everything else works fine.

Interestingly, I've also noticed that my PC shuts down most of the time when I use video compression software, usually around 70-80% completion. I'm wondering if these issues are somehow connected? It may be a registry setting or something else, but I'm at a loss for where to begin troubleshooting. Here are my specs if they help:

- Ryzen 5 3600
- RTX 2060
- Gigabyte B450M DS3H V2
- 2x 8GB DDR4 3200MHz
- Be Quiet System Power 9 500W

My system is about 5 years old. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Hey! First off, it's odd that there’s nothing in your event logs about the shutdown. Here are a few things you could check:

1. Your OS might be corrupted. Try running the System File Checker tool to repair any missing or corrupted system files.

2. Your power supply may not be providing enough power, especially as it ages. A 500W PSU should be sufficient, but it could be wearing out.

3. Although you mentioned your CPU temps look fine, keep an eye on them while under load. What's considered "fine"? If you're seeing temps around 75C-85C or higher, that might be pushing it during heavy use like video compression.

If you check these and still have issues, let me know and we can dig deeper!

I had similar issues before, and it turned out to be the PSU getting old. I replaced mine, and the crashes stopped. Definitely worth looking into!
