Hey everyone, I'm having a frustrating problem with my PC shutting down unexpectedly when both the CPU and GPU are under load, even if they're not maxed out. Here are the specs:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600
- GPU: RX 6600 XT
- Motherboard: MSI B550-A PRO
- Previous PSU: SPC VERO L3 500W 80 Plus Bronze
- Current PSU: FSP/FORTRON VITA GM 850W 80 Plus Gold
I initially thought the issue was with the power supply, so I upgraded to a new 850W unit with a better rating, but the shutdowns still happen, although it seems to have improved a bit.
I'm running with XMP enabled, have my CPU overclocked with an undervolt, while the GPU is at stock settings. Interestingly, undervolting the GPU seems to reduce the frequency of these shutdowns. I can't monitor VRM temperatures with HWINFO64, but my CPU temp stays below 65°C when the shutdown occurs, so I'm doubting it's overheating.
This sudden shutdown issue didn't occur with the old PSU at first, but then it just started happening out of nowhere. Any thoughts on what might be causing this? Is it possibly related to the VRM?

Sounds like the power supply could still be a problem. I've heard that the FSP VITA GM series has had issues under load, especially in high ambient temperatures. It might be worth replacing that PSU again if the shutdowns continue.
Try using MSI Afterburner along with RivaTuner to monitor CPU and GPU power draw in watts. This way, you can see if the shutdown happens when the wattage spikes.
The Windows Event Viewer could provide you with some clues. If there's no specific PSU error showing up, it could potentially be the RAM or motherboard causing the shutdown.
