For the past year, I've been struggling with my PC randomly entering sleep mode. This happens at the most inconvenient times—like when I'm gaming or watching a show. The screen just goes black with a message saying it's entering sleep mode, and even though the fans keep running (and often get louder), I have to force shutdown by holding the power button.
I've tried various fixes I found online, including disabling all sleep settings, checking the temperatures, reviewing crash reports, and even using an app to prevent sleep mode, but nothing has worked so far. Sometimes it behaves normally for a few days or weeks, but then it suddenly starts happening multiple times a day.
To make matters worse, I've recently built a new PC, and the same issue is now occurring again. Everything except the monitor, keyboard, and speakers are new. I did transfer some settings and files to Windows, so I'm wondering if that could be part of the problem. Any insights would be greatly appreciated! Here are my current specs:
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
- Motherboard: B850 Eagle AX
- Graphics card: Aero 5080
- CPU Cooler: Frozen A620 pro
- PSU: MWE gold 850 V3

Hey! A few things to check—are you using a game controller? I’ve heard of issues with those causing sleep mode problems, especially on Windows 11. Also, dove into your BIOS settings? There could be some power-saving features that need to be disabled. Good luck!
Thanks for the ideas! I don’t use a game controller, so that shouldn't be the issue. I just poked around in the BIOS and changed some power options; fingers crossed it helps!
