Why Does My PC Shut Down When I Connect the Power Cable to the CPU?

I'm having a weird issue with my PC. Whenever I connect any power supply cable to the CPU, my computer instantly shuts off. The only time it seems to 'turn on' is when there's no connection to the CPU, but even then, I can't get to the BIOS; it just lights up the RGB. Has anyone experienced something like this? Any ideas on how I can fix it?

It sounds like there might be something wrong with the power delivery to your CPU. Sometimes motherboards have dual power sockets for the CPU; make sure you’re connecting it to the right one. If it only has one, it might be worth checking the motherboard connections.

I didn't try to swap the CPU or motherboard yet. Should I be considering those options?

If the CPU was taken out and looks fine, that’s good news. But without thermal paste, you can’t really reseat it properly. I'd recommend getting some thermal paste and trying that first before jumping to replace parts.
