Hey everyone! I'm currently dealing with an overheating issue with my PC, which is mainly set up for casual gaming. I've noticed that whenever I play games like Counter-Strike or Old School RuneScape, the system shuts down if the temperature goes above 60 degrees Celsius. For instance, in OSRS, using high graphics makes it hit around 65 degrees, causing the screen to freeze and forcing me to restart the PC. I thought my setup should handle demanding games like Call of Duty; it's got an i5-11400 processor, 16GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD, and a GTX 1660 Super. Any ideas on how to fix this?

You should check your reliability monitor for any hardware errors reported during those shutdowns. Sometimes Windows records unexpected shutdowns and can give you a clue about the issue. If it’s showing no errors, it might be a cooling issue, like inadequate airflow or thermal paste needing replacement. Have you made sure your cooling system is working properly?
It sounds like your PSU might not be strong enough to handle the load, or it could be aging. Since your PC is relatively new and you mentioned you bought it prebuilt, that’s a bit unusual. Have you checked if it's a lower quality PSU? Also, would be great if you could share a screenshot of your Task Manager's performance tab. It's a good way to see how everything's performing when you’re gaming, especially under stress! And just to clarify, how old is your PC, and is this shutting down issue a new thing or has it been around since you got it?
I’ve had it for about 2-3 years now. I’ve only noticed the shutting down issue recently, particularly when I started using a graphics plugin in OSRS that pushes the temp up. Most of the time, it runs fine under lower graphics settings.
I haven’t checked the reliability monitor yet, but that's a good idea! I will check the cooling setup too to see if it could be a fan issue or something related.
