I've been experiencing random shutdowns on my PC while playing specific games. My setup is pretty powerful, but I wonder if my aging case (which hasn't been cleaned in ages) could be the culprit since it's likely gathering dust and causing overheating issues. Here are my specs:
- **Case:** NZXT s340
- **GPU:** GeForce RTX 3080 ti
- **CPU:** Intel i9-12900k
- **RAM:** 32 GB DDR4 3600
- **PSU:** Cooler Master 850W 80+ Gold
- **SSD:** 1x 1TB Samsung 980, 1x 1TB Intel
Would love to hear any suggestions on troubleshooting this issue. Thanks!

You should definitely clean out your fans and maybe even try gaming with the side panel off. Sometimes improved airflow can help a lot!
Have you checked the temperatures of your CPU and GPU while gaming? If they're not too high, the issue might actually be with your power supply, especially if it’s older. It could be failing and causing the shutdowns.
Oh, I mixed that up! Those were just my idle temps without any games running.
Yeah, I agree with you—sounds like it could be the PSU's problem.
If your PC just completely shuts off, it usually points towards a temperature issue or the power supply failing. Make sure your temps are within limits, especially the junction temperature on the 3080 Ti—if they're fine, your PSU is likely the issue.
Could be that the power supply is hitting some kind of protection mode during more demanding games.
I’ve been using my old Alienware case from 2003 with multiple builds—just need to clean it out to deal with the dust buildup. So sometimes old setups can get pretty clogged!
I should've done that ages ago! I’m actually getting a new case tomorrow, so I’ll be using my girlfriend’s old one with newer fans. Might even upgrade my PSU while I'm at it.
