I've been having this issue where my PC occasionally spikes to 100% disk usage. The only way to temporarily resolve it is to shut down and reboot, but even then, it doesn't always fix the problem—sometimes it's still at 100% even after restarting. It usually resolves itself by the next morning when I turn it on. It's strange because it works normally 99% of the time, and the disk usage jumps from a mere 2.5 MB to full capacity. Has anyone experienced this or have any ideas on how to fix it?

Have you scanned your computer for viruses? Sometimes malware can cause disk usage to spike unexpectedly.
You can try a repair command if you're using Windows. Click the start menu, type 'cmd', right-click it, and select 'run as administrator'. Then type 'chkdsk /f'. It'll prompt you to repair files upon restart—just hit 'y' and then restart your PC. This might help decrease that disk usage.
Just a heads-up, Windows tends to run background processes that can affect disk usage. If your computer isn’t running slowly, you might not need to worry too much. But if it is slow, you should definitely check the health of your disk.
By the way, is your drive an HDD or an SSD? Knowing the type can help diagnose the issue better.
