I'm really puzzled because my PC occasionally turns on by itself and sometimes it turns on and off quickly. I'm not sure if this is due to software issues or something more serious. I don't know a lot about PCs, so I'm just trying to figure out if it's a sign of malfunction or if there could be malware involved. I did run a check with Windows Security, and it says everything looks fine. Can anyone help explain what might be going on?

It could be related to various settings. First, maybe check how your PC’s sleep timers are configured. Sometimes, updates might be set to automatically install and reboot, which could cause the random power-ups. Also, how are you interacting with the PC when this happens? Just curious if there’s any particular activity leading up to it.
You might want to check your BIOS settings. If you see options for 'Wake on LAN' or 'Wake on USB', turning those off might help stop the random power-ups.

When it happens, I don’t really touch the PC at all. Sometimes my phone is plugged in for charging, and that’s about it.
