Why Does My Phone Only Charge When It’s Completely Dead?

I've got an iPhone 13 that fell while charging, and the charger broke in the process. The connector popped out, and after I had to pull it out of the charging port, I think there might have been some damage. I'm currently using a third-party lightning cable with a regular plug and a power bank for charging. The strange issue is that my phone only starts charging when it's dead. If I plug it in while it's on, nothing happens, but if it's dead, it wakes up and charges just fine. I've cleaned the port and tried other cables, but nothing works. Should I consider using a wireless charger, or just let my phone die before charging? Any suggestions would really help as I need to stick with this phone for another month before getting a new one. By the way, my phone just stopped charging altogether, so it turns on but won't charge anymore. Thanks!

Have you tried restarting your phone while it's plugged in? Sometimes, that can give it a little nudge to start charging.

No, it doesn’t work for me.

I had a similar issue with my Android phone after dropping it with the charger in. What worked for me was turning the phone off completely before plugging it in to charge. It charges fine when it’s off, but if I leave it on, sometimes it actually loses charge. It might be worth a try! You could also think about visiting a repair shop to see if they can fix the connector. At least charging it while off will get you through this month!

Yeah, turning it off and charging seems to work for now! Thank you.
