Why does my secondary monitor lag when playing videos?

I recently upgraded to a new computer (Asus 5080 with a 9950x3D and 64GB RAM), and I'm noticing that when I play videos on my secondary monitor (which is 60Hz), they appear sluggish or laggy. It's not a typical lagging or freezing issue, but the video quality seems off, almost like it's in 'slow motion.' My main monitor is 165Hz, and I haven't experienced this problem before with my old computer. What's going on?

First, make sure that the video window is fully on the second monitor and not stretching across both screens. Sometimes, that can cause visual issues. Also, if your GPU has multiple ports, check if plugging the second monitor into a different port makes a difference. It could solve the lag problem!

How do I check if the window is entirely on the second monitor? I'm not quite sure what that means. I'll also try changing the port.

Are you experiencing this lag only when gaming on your main monitor, or is it happening all the time? I had a similar issue where Chrome seemed to disable hardware acceleration under load, causing frame drops on my second monitor. It might be tied to your Nvidia drivers, but I'm interested in what you find out too!

I haven’t tried watching videos without the game running but I’ll give it a shot. I also turned off hardware acceleration, but the problem persists. My old computer never had this issue!
