Why Does My WiFi Take So Long to Connect on Linux Mint?

I'm a new Linux user, only a week in, and I've noticed that while Linux Mint boots up quickly, connecting to my WiFi takes a frustratingly long time—around a minute or sometimes worse. This has been happening since I installed it. I'm using Linux Mint 22.1 (Cinnamon) on a T3U Plus (A1300) TP-Link 802.11ac NIC with the rtl88x2bu driver. My internet connection works fine once I finally connect, but I can't help but feel like this isn't normal. Has anyone else experienced this?

You might want to try a little script that disables the WiFi for a few seconds and then re-enables it when you log in. I did something similar, and it made my connection instant. If you're willing to give it a shot, manually turning the WiFi off for a moment and then back on could help you pinpoint if that's the issue.

Haha, my attempts to reconnect took about 20 tries once! I kept getting this weird error saying, "Connection failed - secrets were requested but were not provided." Maybe the Network Manager is losing track of my password or something!
