Why Does Windows Defender Flag Fan Control and Open Hardware Monitor as Trojans?

Hey everyone, I'm having an issue where both Fan Control and Open Hardware Monitor are being flagged as Trojans by Windows Defender. On top of that, Open Hardware Monitor is no longer detecting my CPU temperatures, and Fan Control isn't recognizing several fan headers. Is this possibly related to my motherboard? What can I do to resolve this?

This issue is linked to a driver those apps use to communicate with your hardware. While neither the apps nor the driver are actually harmful, that driver is vulnerable, which is why Defender is quarantining it as a precaution. Unfortunately, there's one main driver they've been using, and it hasn’t been resolved yet. You can read more about it here: [Link].

So, is there a workaround? Or should I just wait for them to push an update?

EDIT: I heard Fan Control released an update that supposedly fixes this, but it's still not working for me.

I ran into the same problem with FanControl a couple of weeks ago. It turned out to be a false positive, and the next update fixed it for me.

Thanks for the tip! I'll update the app.

EDIT: Still not working for me.
