Hey folks, I received a Patriot 500GB P400 Lite SSD as a free add-on with my CPU from Newegg. However, despite the proper labeling on the packaging and the drive itself, it's being recognized as a 2TB VP4300L by my BIOS, Windows, and CrystalDiskInfo. I ran a test with hwtestw, which verified a write of over 700GB, but I don't have a heat sink, and the drive heats up quite a bit during the test, so I usually stop before testing its full capacity. I'm quite confused about how this is happening and wonder if there's an issue or if I'm overlooking something. Any insights?

Yeah, the hwtestw does write 1GB files to the SSD, so you might be experiencing everything it claims to be able to handle. Just remember, if it’s getting hot too fast during tests, it’s a good idea to put a pause on those to avoid overheating. I get it; testing it for hours is not ideal. Under normal conditions, the temperatures seem fine, though!
It sounds like you might have stumbled upon an unexpected upgrade! Have you actually tried copying over 700GB of data to see if it can hold it? If that works, it's likely that you received a wrongly labeled product. As for the temperatures, high stress tests will definitely heat things up—I've seen my SSD hit 77°C during intense loads. Just keep an eye on it; if it reaches those temps under normal usage, that’s a concern.
