I recently set up a system with the 7600X processor, and I'm noticing that it's running quite hot even with a dual tower air cooler. I'm curious about why AM5 processors tend to run hotter than expected and what steps I can take to manage these temperatures better. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

First off, what are your actual temperature readings? It would help to know what 'hot' means for you. Also, what tasks are you doing when the temps spike? Don't forget to check your case airflow—how many intake and exhaust fans do you have and where are they placed? Plus, what's the ambient temperature in your room? Lastly, are you using PBO or any kind of overclocking? Without these details, it's hard to pinpoint the issue, but sometimes it's just that the cooler isn't mounted properly or there's not the right amount of thermal paste. That's a common problem!
If your system is hitting those high temps, you might want to try setting it to eco mode in the BIOS—this will limit it to 65 watts, similar to the non-X 7600. You might see a 1-2% drop in benchmark performance, but it won’t affect gaming or daily use at all, which could help with the heat problem.
Make sure you removed any plastic from the bottom of your cooler. Sometimes people forget that and it can cause overheating. Also, check if the cooler is properly secured and maybe reapply thermal paste just to be safe. Undervolting the CPU can also help with managing the temps without losing much performance.
Thanks for the tip! I'll check the cooler and reapply the thermal paste if needed.
