Why is my AppData folder so large compared to its size on disk?

Hey everyone! I noticed something weird with my AppData folder. It shows a size of 551GB, but the size on disk is only 34GB. I have 205,182 files and 28,605 folders in there. I'm running low on space, and I'm not sure why it's so huge when I barely have any apps installed.

Also, I found out there's a hidden folder called "Application Data" that I can't access, and it's taking up a lot of space. How do I delete it? Any help would be great!

It sounds like there might be some weird file linking or compression going on. You should definitely check which specific files or folders in AppData are taking up so much space. Using a tool like WinDirStat could help you get a clearer picture. It can also clarify why the size on disk shows so differently than the actual total size.

WinDirStat shows the size on disk as 36GB. Do you think checking each folder's size could be worth it?

I just realized there's that hidden "Application Data" folder that's causing the size issue. I need to figure out how to delete it!

This seems like a major issue with file corruption. That's a ridiculous number of folders in your AppData. It might be a good idea to run a repair process that includes chkdsk, as it could fix any file system errors.

Not really, but the repair process can sometimes handle things a bit differently and more thoroughly.

Is that repair process different from manually running chkdsk in the terminal?
