Why is my brother’s PC performing worse with a new GPU?

I recently upgraded my brother's graphics card from a GTX 1660 Super to my old RTX 3060 Ti, and he has an Intel i7 10700F CPU. While he used to get around 400+ FPS in Valorant, his performance has now dropped to an average of 180-250 FPS, with noticeable dips during fights. Additionally, in Battlefield 6, he averages 85 FPS, with a minimum of 60. It seems like the gameplay has become choppy, and he mentioned that his monitor looks blurry, though he suspects it might be a placebo effect. What could be causing these performance issues?

First things first, have you tried updating the drivers? Sometimes the new GPU needs the latest software to work optimally. It could really help with your performance issues!

I recommend using DDU to completely uninstall all graphics drivers, then reinstall the latest ones. Just updating to the latest may not be enough if there were previous drivers that could interfere.

Thanks for the tip! He didn't use DDU when updating, so that might fix the issues.
